THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Neuroscience of Perception and Action Research Line (PI: Giacomo Novembre), in collaboration with the Neurodevelopmental Disorders Research Line (PI: Michael Lombardo), is seeking 1 talented candidate as part of a research project focused on joint music making as a facilitative technology for improving social-communicative skills in autistic individuals. The research focuses on recruiting and testing children with autism spectrum disorder or typically developing children in an experiment with joint music making activities. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Recruiting typically-developing and autistic children and families for participation in experiments.
- Running experimental testing sessions.
- Facilitating work on the project (in conjunction with the PIs, post-docs, PhD students)
- Data management and entry
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
· A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., clinical or experimental psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, cognitive science, linguistics).
· Good command of both Italian and English languages.
· Excellent organization and communication skills.
· Experience with typically-developing and/or autistic children.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
The following skills are helpful, though not essential or required for the position.
· Prior experience with EEG and/or eye tracking methodologies.
· Computational skills (e.g., statistics, coding skills in MATLAB, R, or Python).
· Extensive knowledge about the field of autism research.
· Motivation to pursue a career in academic research.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
· A yearly gross salary of 20,500 €.
· Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
This open position is financed by a European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept grant awarded to Dr. Novembre for the AUTISMUS project.
