The Nanotechnologies for Neurosciences (N4N) Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco. The research focuses on new technologies aiming to face problems in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. This includes the development of new microscopes (Brillouin microscope, long working distance / high resolution microscope, IR spectro-microscope), new diagnostic tools (early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease via retinal imaging, animal based cancer screening) and new platforms (bio-printing, organoids, organ-on-chip) for personalized drug test and delivery. New computational methods (bio-computation and AI boosted imaging) are also under development and used to study with a high interdisciplinary approach Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal disorders, Kabuki syndrome and other neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental pathologies.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
· Design and implement 3D bioprinting and microfluidics strategies for neural tissue fabrication
· Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including bioengineers, neuroscientists, and materials scientists
· Analyze data and prepare high-impact scientific publications
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, and similar disciplines
· Documented experience in 3D bioprinting, microfluidics, or tissue engineering
· Strong publication record
· Good command of spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
· Experience in iPSCs cells, microscopy techniques, and data processing
· Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
· Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
