THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Synthetic and Systems Biology for Biomedicine Research Unit is coordinated by Velia Siciliano and is based at the IIT Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Health Care in Naples. The research focuses on engineering novel immune cell based therapies for solid tumor treatment.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
- To test newly engineered T cells and/or macrophages in relevant preclinical mouse models of solid tumors (e.g. ovarian cancer).
You will be working in a collaboration with San Raffaele Hospital (Chiara Bonini and Eliana Ruggiero labs) in Milan and you will be exposed to the cutting edge research in bioengineering and cancer therapeutic development and test. In order to facilitate interactions with San Raffaele Hospital, you will be based at the IIT Center for Genomic Science (CGS) in Milan.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or related disciplines
- Documented experience in working with preclinical mice models for tumor immunology
- Strong publication record
- Good command of spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Experience in producing lentiviruses and engineering T cells and/or macrophages ex vivo
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- A yearly gross salary ranging between 35k and 40k
- Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
- Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
